Dan Broderick Joins Innovation Institute as Entrepreneur in Residence

Posted on May 24, 2021 by Mike Yeomans

Dan Broderick, an experienced healthcare and biotech investor and entrepreneur, is joining the University of Pittsburgh Innovation Institute as Entrepreneur in Residence effective June 1, 2021.

Most recently Broderick served as the Vice President of Investments for St. Louis-based BioGenerator.  There he identified and de-risked commercially promising innovations and recruited and mentored entrepreneurial talent.

“We are excited to bring in someone like Dan who has the proven ability to identify promising early-stage technologies and accelerate them on the path to impact through commercialization,” said Paul Petrovich, assistant director of business development at the Innovation Institute.

Prior to BioGenerator, Broderick was an investment manager and managing director for Mayo Clinic, Mason Wells Biomedical Fund, and Prolog Ventures. Throughout his career, he has raised more than $100 million for venture capital partnerships and served on the board of more than 35 startup companies.

“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to work alongside Pitt innovators as they seek to translate their research into products and services that make an impact on people’s lives and drive economic growth,” Broderick said.

Entrepreneurs in residence at the Innovation Institute consult with Pitt innovators on the commercial potential of innovations arising from their research. They guide them to the programs and resources that can help them accelerate on the path to market.

For Pitt researchers interested in pursuing a commercialization, the Innovation Institute’s Entrepreneurs in Residence are available to offer assistance. Contact us at innovate@pitt.edu for more information.
