Pitt innovators were issued six U.S. patents in March 2024.
Featured Patent: 11,931,423: “Glucose Oxidase-Nanoparticle Bioconjugates for Cancer Treatment and Uses Thereof”
Use of radiotherapy to treat cancer often results in healthy tissue damage. Pitt innovators have developed a series of bioconjugates for a novel reactive oxygen species-induced cancer therapy that have minimum side effects, long term effectiveness and are highly tumor specific. The bioconjugates have demonstrated highly specific tumor uptake, which can be attributed to specificity of the targeting probes attached on their surface and enhanced permeability and retention induced by their size.
