Featured Patent: 11,667,919: “Targeting Cancer-Associated Long Non-Coding RNA’s”
Pitt investigators have identified a group of cancer-related long non-coding RNAs as novel biomarkers of cancer. They have additionally developed methods of detecting and inhibiting these molecules in cancer cells. Among the 2,123 RNAs identified by the Pitt team, one appears to have higher expression in nine cancer types, including breast cancer. Inhibition of these RNAs in breast cancer cells led to cell death, suggesting therapeutic potential in treating breast cancer.
