University of Pittsburgh Announces 10 U.S. Patents Issued to Pitt Innovators in January 2026

Posted on February 2, 2026 by Mike Yeomans

Pitt innovators were issued 10 patents in January 2026.

Featured Patent: 12,524,034 “Parametrically-Driven Coherent Signal Router for Quantum Computing and Related Methods”

Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh have developed a modular quantum signal‑routing technology based on parallel three‑wave parametric coupling within a tree-like network of microwave elements. This quantum router enables coherent photon transfer between qubit modules through “pitch‑and‑catch” interactions in communication cavities, allowing multiple modes to operate in parallel without interference. The approach offers a scalable path to larger qubit networks and more efficient quantum information transport, with potential impact across quantum computing, telecommunications, and medical research. Computational models and in‑silico studies demonstrate feasibility, and the technology is now positioned for physical prototyping and commercial development.
