Jeff Garanich

Director, Innovation Programming

Jeff Garanich is the Director, Innovation Programming within Pitt’s Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIE).  In this role, Jeff leads the development and implementation of novel class-based and immersive innovation and entrepreneurial programming.  These initiatives will allow OIE to expand its opportunities to engage innovators across the University.

Prior to joining Pitt, Jeff served as Executive Director of the City Innovations Collaborative (CInC) at The City College of New York (CCNY).  CInC was created to develop a life sciences ecosystem for New York City (NYC) communities who have been historically underrepresented in this space.  Jeff’s work with CInC built on his efforts as Director of CCNY’s Master’s in Translational Medicine (MTM), an accelerated graduate medical innovation program that is the first of its kind in NYC and one of the first in the United States.  In this role, he oversaw development and growth of the program while leading administration of a curriculum that trains students in the core competencies required to bring a new medical technology to market.

Garanich previously worked in the medical technology and private equity industries.  Of note, he spent six years with Boston Scientific Corporation, where he drove the completion of cross-disciplinary medical device research and development projects critical to products’ commercialization.
