Derek McDonald

Derek McDonald joined the Office of Innovation as Assistant Director of Administration in 2023. Derek leads the database administration and analytics functions for the organization and assists with facilities, finance and other operations-related duties. He previously served as the Director of Operations and Analytics at the University of Pittsburgh College of Business Administration, where he led critical initiatives, including budget management, team leadership, and data-driven decision-making. Prior to Pitt Derek was Marketing Communications Manager at ANSYS Inc., a Canonsburg-based software firm. His educational qualifications include an MBA from Ohio University and a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from The Ohio State University. Derek is also a certified Gallup Strengths Coach and Professional Scrum Master, and his dedication to mentoring has earned him recognition in the field.
