Database Administrator

Darnell Grate is the Database Administrator (DBA) for the Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIE). Prior to joining The University of Pittsburgh, Darnell filled multiple positions in educational technology at K-12 school districts around the Pittsburgh region. His recent roles as a Systems Analyst, Application Support Coordinator, and Technology Manager have helped shaped his passion for the pursuit of higher education. Darnell currently is a doctoral student at Duquesne University earning his degree in Educational Technology. Darnell earned an MBA with a focus on Management Information Systems from Point Park University and a B.S. in Communications with a minor in Psychology from Clarion University. A true Pittsburgher, Darnell grew up on the east side of Pittsburgh (Homewood, Morningside, and East Liberty) but attended the Pittsburgh Public School’s Carrick High School. Now residing in the western suburbs of Pittsburgh, Darnell is a proud husband and father of four kids with whom he enjoys spending his free time modifying computers and other technologies.
