The University of Pittsburgh announced that Pitt innovators were issued three patents in August 2018.
Featured Patent: U.S. 10,039,858 “Biodegradable Poly(ester Amide) Elastomers and Uses Thereof”
The inventors have created biocompatible and biodegradable materials for multiple biomedical applications, such as tissue engineering and drug delivery. For successful regeneration of tissues such as heart valves and myocardium, tissue engineered scaffolds must promote cell growth, match the regeneration and healing rate of the target tissue and mimic the mechanical properties of the native extracellular matrix. The elastomers developed by the inventors accomplish these goals. For more information on this technology, including licensing, contact Janice Panza at jpanza@innovation.pitt.edu.
