Executive Director of Innovation and Strategy
Dr Peter Allen originally trained as a physicist, undertaking research in inverse photoemission and postdoctoral research in multi-layer semiconductor devices. He has worked in a University start up, in Blue Chip consulting firms and founded and run an international consulting business. Most recently, he has worked out of Pittsburgh-based Design Agency, Bally Design, where he has worked on integrating Design Thinking with Strategic technology and innovation management.
Over the last 15 years, his client work has involved engaging subject matter experts to support client in-house expertise. This knowledge domains for these networks has been extremely broad, including medical devices, regenerative medicine, sensing, novel chemistry and materials, biofilms, communications technologies, advanced algorithms and associated mathematics. This experience has helped him gain strong insights into the dynamics of building and maintaining University/Business partnerships.
Peter has worked as a consultant, executive team facilitator and trainer over three decades and on four continents. He has worked with diverse groups and cultures, covering many industry sectors and over 40 nationalities. He brings broad experience and an ability to adapt when circumstances dictate. During his career over the last three decades he has been exposed to a wide range of industry sectors and technologies: rail, automotive, food & drink, fast moving consumer goods, medical devices, pharmaceuticals, government R&D labs, oil & gas.
