Liftoff PGH is hosting a health innovation Ideathon for pre-professional, university, and recently graduated students, with a live pitch competition at the Liftoff PGH 2020 summit on December 15th. Prizes total $50,000. Applications accepted on a rolling basis until the end of August.

As the world experiences unprecedented changes in health and society, the Ideathon is looking for innovations that respond to any challenge facing health care. We are interested in products or programs that navigate any of the many challenges facing providers, patients, and caregivers. We know that ideas from outside health care can greatly improve care, and we also know that crises in health care affect different aspects of business and daily life. We encourage you to think broadly about your solution’s impact on wellness. Proposals could include a system of data tracking, a new care methodology, or even a program to improve education and training.

First place winners receive $25,000 in funding to move their idea forward. Undergraduate and graduate students will compete live at the Liftoff PGH summit.

The Selection Timeline

Six finalists will pitch live on December 15th at the Liftoff PGH 2020 summit. Finalists will be selected through two rounds of judging.   After reviewing all digital applications, judges will select the initial group of semi-finalists. All semi-finalists will then attend two training sessions to help craft their presentation. Participants can also schedule training calls with Liftoff PGH coaches during this period.

Semi-finalist contestants will then compete in a 5-minute closed door pitching session, from which six finalists will be selected. The final contestants will be paired with a coach to refine their solution over two months. Finalists then compete in a live pitch session at Liftoff PGH 2020. All winners will be matched with an industry specific mentor to guide development post Ideathon.
