Huntington Breakfast Briefing: Jerry MacCleary, President, Covestro North America (Chief Executive Officer, effective February 1, 2018)
The Pittsburgh Technology Council is pleased to present Jerry MacCleary, Chief Executive Officer of Covestro North America (Effective Feb. 1, 2018.) Since inventing polyurethanes and polycarbonates decades ago, Covestro has continued to be driven by innovation, delivering new technologies and solutions that help make a positive impact on people’s lives every day.
With 2016 sales of EUR 11.9 billion, Covestro is among the world’s largest polymer producers. Serving the automotive, electrical and electronics, construction and the sports and leisure industries, Covestro has 30 production sites around the globe and as of December 31, 2016, employed approximately 15,600 people.
MacCleary will discuss Covestro’s vision to make the world a brighter place with products that benefit society and reduce the impact on the environment. Attendees will learn about how he leads the business on innovation strategies, sustainability and community engagement initiatives in Pittsburgh and beyond.
Named chief executive in November, MacCleary joined Covestro (then part of Bayer) in 1979 as an accountant, before moving into a technical sales role in the plastics division. He continued to assume positions of increasing responsibility within sales, marketing, general management and strategic leadership. He also completed two international assignments in Germany.
